Jürgen Groß (Violin, Music Director, Arranger)

Born: 1969 - Hamburg, Germany

The German violinist, Jürgen Groß, studied in his native Hamburg - violin and music education with Isabella Petrosian and chamber music with Gerhard Darmstadt. His preoccupation with the Baroque violin led him to the Musikhochschule Bremen, where he studied with Thomas Albert and later to the Institut für Alte Musik in Trossingen, where he studied with Anton Steck. Courses with Monica Huggett, Werner Ehrhardt and Hiro Kurosaki completed his training.

Jürgen Groß worked as a violinist in various ensembles - including with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Flemish Baroque Orchestra B'Rock and the Spanish ensemble Al Ayre Espanol.

In 1999 Jürgen Groß founded the Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg, with which he undertook in the recent years also internationally tours to Sweden, Belgium, France, Czech Republic and Brazil past. In 2000 and 2004 he 2004 conducted a seminar with the Baroque Orchestra Concerto Elmshorn. Since January 1, 2005 he is also their Artistic Director and from January 2010, he also assumed the position of concertmaster. Since 2009, Groß is also regularly coach and concert master of Baroque and classical projects at the Orchesterakademie of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
