Rolf Reinhardt (Conductor, Piano)

Born: February 3, 1927 - Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German conductor and pianist, Rolf Reinhardt, studied piano and composition with Frieda Kwast-Hodapp and Wolfgang Fortner.

After his studies Rolf Reinhardt held posts of Kapellmeister in Heidelberg, Darmstadt and Stuttgart; beyond that he was active for several years as an assistant in Bayreuth. In 1958 he became the Heidelberg’s general music director of the Pfalzoper in Kaiserslautern. A year later went to Trier to serve in the same function and held there also the directing of the Städtischen Musikvereins (Urban Music Association).

In 1968 Rolf Reinhardt received a Professur at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Frankfurt, where he had managed the department of opera and demonstating art. Besides he worked as a conductor of Frankfurt Opera House and Frankfurt Bach Orchestra. From 1973 to 1982 he was music director and conductor of the Kölner Bach-Vereins (Cologne Bach Association).

Rolf Reinhardt made a name for himself also as Lieder companion and a chamber musician as well as by numerous recordings.
