The Dutch conductor, Marinus Voorberg, became in 1961 permanent Conductor of the Amsterdamer Kammerorchester (Amsterdam Chamber Orchestra, renamed in 1984 as the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra) and with him, the Orchestra made many Television and Radio recordings.
Later Marinus Voorberg became the music director of the NCRV Vocaal Ensemble. With this ensemble and with "Cantasona" (children's chorus), he gave in July 1971 at the Holland Festival in Utrect the first known performance of Kurt Weill's Recordare, op. 11 (Lamentations V) (1923). This premiere performance was also recorded by Radio Nederland and printed in LP form.
Marinus Voorberg was the principal conductor of the SWR Stuttgart Vocal Ensemble from 1975 to 1981. With him the choir specialized in a high-quality, international a cappella repertoire, in virtuoso choir music, that can only be performed by trained voices. The Südfunk-Chor Stuttgart, a professional ensemble, rose to the top ranks of ambitious a cappella choirs of the young generation, with a conception of chamber music which revolutionized choir music. |
