Collegium Delft grew out of the Camerata Delft Chamber Music Ensemble. The latter consists of a core of nine musicians, and is dedicated to the performance of 17th and 18th century chamber music for various combinations of instruments, regularly combined with contemporary music, resulting in surprising and original concerts.
Collegium Delft performs in concerts which require more musicians, or together with choirs, soloists and dance or theatre companies. The core musicians of Camerata Delft are joined by colleagues who are also committed to the same imaginative music making.
The Collegium Delft musicians perform on both authentic and modern instruments depending on the repertoire. All the musicians are trained in the performance of both Early and Contemporary Music. The ensemble has appeared with among others PA'dam, the Amsterdam Bach Consort, the Nieuw Bach Ensemble Amersfoort, Toonkunstkoor Rotterdam and the dance company Wij Zijn DOX. They have performed works by J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, George Frideric Handel and contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt en James McMillan, under the leadership of conductors such as Krijn Koetsveld, Maria van Nieukerken and Nico van der Meel. |
