Claus-Erhard Heinrich (Choral conductor, Organ)

Born: 1960 - Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, Germany

The German choral conductor, organist and church musician, Claus-Erhard Heinrich, studied first mathematics at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. He them moved to Musikhochschule in Frankfurt, studying church music (A-exam) with Edgar Krapp, Wolfgang Schäfer, Dr. Reinhard Menger, Heinz-Werner Zimmerman, piano (concert diploma) with Irina Edelstein, orchestral conducting with Jiri Starek and Rolf Reinhardt.

Claus-Erhard Heinrich was engaged as conductor and pianist, from 1987 to 1991 at the Stadttheater Regensburg; co-founder and director of the Philharmonischen Kammerorchester. From 1991 to 1997 at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. Since 1997, he serves as Kantor at Dom zu Halberstadand Director of the Kirchenmusikalischen Seminars (Church Music Seminar) in Halberstadt. With the Kantorei Halberstadt he has performed the great oratorio repertoire from Heinrich Schütz to Igor Stravinsky with professional orchestras (with historical and modern instruments) and renowned soloists. With the Michael-Praetorius-Chor (Jugendchor am Dom zu Halberstadt), he has made concert tours to the Netherlands and Sweden. With the A-cappella-Chor Halberstadt he performs unusual vocal music from Josquin Desprez to Aaron Copland. With the Domvokalensemble he performs vocal music in the smallest occupation - particularly for the service - from Joachim a Burck to Kurt Hessenberg.

Claus-Erhard Heinrich is also working as a composer. His works have been published since 1992 by various music publishers. In 1995 was the first radio production of his own organ composition with the Hessischen Rundfunk. Since 1999, he gives radio broadcasts titled Orgeljazz with the Hessischen Rundfunk. He performs organ concerts thast includes improvisation with jazz elements. Since 2001, he gives regular concerts with the Leipzig bass Gotthold Schwarz, who has performed with John Eliot Gardiner, Philippe Herreweghe, Gustav Leonhardt and Georg Christoph Biller, among many others. In 2003, he was appointed Church Music Director (KMD = Kirchenmusikdirektor). Since 2003, he gives regular concerts with the mime Angela Kunze-Beiküfner. With her he gave in 2008 a church service on ZDF television.

In 2009, Claus-Erhard Heinrich was invited by the Evangelischen Kirchentag in Bremen. He gave concerts with the Michael-Praetorius-Chor inter alia in Schwerin (Dom), Malmö (Sankt Johannes kyrka), Worcester (Cathedral), Deventer (Grote Kerk). In 2010 he was invited with the Domvokalensembles Halberstadt to give concerts in Orléans, Vendome, Straßburg, Paris; organ concerts in Belfort (Cathédrale St. Christophe), Berlin (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche), Bonn (Münster), Brastislava (Vel’ký evanjelický kostol), Bremen (Dom), Brno (Varhanní Festival 2009), Dresden (Kreuzkirche), Frankfurt (Sendesaal des HR im Rahmen des Kirchentages 2001), Halle (Saale) (Händelhalle), Leipzig (Thomaskirche), Oxford (Christ Church Cathedral, Queens College), Ulm (Münster), Warszawa (Warszawski Festiwal Organowy).
