The Hungarian tenor, Zoltán Megyesi, attended college in his native city of Szeged. He studied with Valéria Berdál, Tamás Busa and Edit D. Szécsi. After his graduation in 1998, he continued his studies with Magda Nádor. He received a second prize in the Mária Gyurkovics Singing Competition in 2003. He was one of the winners at the International Singing Competition in Verona for the roles of Monteverdi's Orfeo.
Zoltán Megyesi is a specialist in Baroque and Classical oratorio and opera. He he often appears as a tenor soloist of oratorios, masses and passions in concert halls and church music concerts throughout Europe. As a soloist in George Frideric Handel’s St John Passion he had the opportunity to sing in the presence of the King of Spain, His Majesty Juan Carlos.
Zoltán Megyesi’s appearances in W.A. Mozart operas, as Ferrando in Così fan tutte (such as at the Mozart-Marathon event organized by Balázs Kovalik) and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, have been received enthusiastically by audiences and critics alike. He was a student of the Opera Studio between 2005 and 2007, and he has been a regular guest singer of the theatre ever since. Besides a number of minor roles he has featured in the role of Ramiro in La cenerentola. |
