The German pianist, Burkard [Burkhard] Spinnler, studied at the Musikhochschule Wurzburg with J. von Karolyi and passed the Staatsexamen in 1978. He then studied with J. Cl. Vanden Eynden at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique in Brussels, obtaining his Diplome Superieur in 1982, and at the Ecole de Maitrise Pianistique (1981-1984). He also studied privately with Eduardo del Pueyo in Brussels.
Burkard Spinnler made his debut in 1978 with University Orchestra, Wurzburg. He has appeared as a soloist and in chamber music in Germany, Belgium, France. In 1989 he played a special Leopold Godowsky commemorative programme. He gives regular concerts on 2 pianos with Claudine Orloff, including Musique en Sorbonne (Paris, July 1991)
Burkard Spinnler made private researches of Franz Liszt unpublished works, numerological problems in J.S. Bach's music, 136 unedited letters of Francis Poulenc. He taught at the Brussels Conservatory from 1985 to 1990. Publication: Zur Angemessenheit traditionelles Formbegriffe in der Analyse Mahlerscher Symphonik, in Form und Idee in G Mahlers Instrumentalmusik (1980).
