Gesine Adler (Soprano)

Born: Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

The German soprano, Gesine Adler, received her first musical training in the Gewandhaus-Kinder- und Jugendchor. During her studies in Germanic and music education at the University of Leipzig, she received singing training with Marion Baumgärtel. After her degree she studied at the Leipzig Musikhochschule "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Baroque singing first with Maria Jonas, and later with Marek Rzepka, followed by graduate studies. Master-classes with Jill Feldman and Andreas Scholl gave her more valuable artistic impulses.

The repertoire of Gesine Adler includes concert and ensemble literature of the Renaissance and Baroque periods (with a special interest in the works of J.S. Bach) to Romantic. She has performed with leading ensembles (Telemannisches Collegium Michaelstein, Cappella Sagittariana Dresden, Leipziger Barockorchester, Pauliner Barockensemble, La Stagione Consort, Concerto Köln, Académie Sainte-Cécile, Capella de la Torre, Mendelssohn Kammerorchester Leipzig, Mendelssohn Kammerorchester Leipzig, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig), and has worked with such conductors as Thomaskantor Georg Christoph Biller, David Timm, Peter Schreier, Gregor Meyer, Michael Schönheit, Philippe Couvert und Ludger Rémy. She has sung at music festivals as the Sächsischen Mozartfest, Bachfest Leipzig, Händelfestspielen Halle, MDR Musiksommer and Festival de Musique Sacrée a Notre-Dame de l’Épine, etc.

As a charming and challenging addition to her solo career, Gesine Adler co-opearates with the renowned Ensemble Amarcord and Calmus Ensemble Leipzig as a guest singer. In 2004 she founded together with former classmates of the Early music department at the Musikhochschule Leipzig, the Ensemble Noema, which is dedicated to the interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque music.

Numerous CD and radio productions, document the artistic work of Gesine Adler.
