The Austrian harpsichordist, Erich Traxler, studied organ, harpsichord and piano at the Brucknerkonservatorium Linz, Upper Austria and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Michael Radulescu, August Humer, Wolfgang Glüxam, Gordon Murray and Brett Leighton. Numerous prizes at national competitions for piano and organ. Graduation with distinction in all subjects, merit prize from the University of Music Vienna. For postgradual studies he went to Basel (Switzerland) and studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis; organ with Andrea Marcon, Wolfgang Zerer and Jean-Claude Zehnder, harpsichord and basso continuo with Jesper Christensen. He also attended master-classes with Ton Koopman and Bernhard Haas. He won first prizes at international organ competitions in Goldrain, Italy 2003 and Bochum, Germany 2005.
Erich Traxler has regular concert activity in Europe, the USA, South America, Korea and Japan. As chamber musician he performs regularly with ensembles such as Venice Baroque Orchestra (Director: Andrea Marcon), Bach Consort Wien (Director: Rubén Dubrovsky), Ensemble Saitsiing and Musica Novantica Vienna. Numerous recordings for CD and radio document his artistic work.
Erich Traxler teaches at the University of Music Vienna as well as at the Conservatory Private University Vienna and is visiting lector at master-classes, e. g. at the University of Music Belgrade and Notre Dame University (USA). |
