Lilian Benningsen (Mezzo-soprano, Contralto)

Born: July 17, 1924 - Vienna, Austria
Died: June 12, 2014 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany

The Austrian mezzo-soprano/contralto, Lilian Benningsen, came from Vienna. Her guest appearances as Eboli in Verdi’s Don Carlos at the State Opera of Munich was so successful that she was asked to join the ensemble. She remained with the State Opera for many years. Concurrently, she had an eminent career as a concert and Lieder singer.
