Corry Bijster (Soprano)

Born: January 15, 1905 - Haarlem, the Netherlands
Died: 1998

The Dutch soprano, Corry Bijster, made her debut in 1933. At first mainly lieder and oratorio. She also appeared many times in the radio-concerts. Concert tours through the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Switzerland. After 1946 also with the Nederlandse Opera and at the Holland Festival. She sang mainly Mozart-roles and had in 1956 with the role of Konstanze in Entführung aus dem Serail great success in Glyndebourne.

After her singing-career, Corry Bijster became a singing-teacher in her born-place Haarlem.
