Daniel Blosser (Tenor, Choral Conductor)

Born: August 5, 1980 - Indiana, USA

The American tenor and choral conductor, Daniel C. Blosser, studied at R Nelson Snider High School Fort Wayne, Indiana (Class of 1998). He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Indianapolis (1998-2002), where he was the Claire Crystler Award winner in 2002. He received his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Indiana University in Bloomington (1005-2007); and his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Choral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (2014-2017). His conducting teachers include Earl Rivers, Jan Harrington, William Jon Gray, John Poole, Brett Scott, Aik Khai Pung, and Paul Krasnovsky. His voice teachers include David Adams, Daniel Weeks, Sharmal Schrock, and Kathleen Hacker.

Daniel Blosser is an active conductor, singer, and educator since August 2003. He served as Music Director at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, Ohio (August 2014-June 2016), directing the Chancel Choir and Praise Band. He is now based in Louisville, and is currently serving as the Director of Music Ministries at Christ Church United Methodist (since June 2016). He was also recently named the 2014-2015 Choral Conducting Fellow with the May Festival Chorus under the direction of Robert Porco (June 2014-June 2016). Previously, he was a faculty member at Butler University (2011-2014), where he conducted the Chamber Choir and University Choir, and was the chair of the music department and Director of Choirs at Covenant Christian High School in Indianapolis (August 2007-July 2013 ·). He is also a former Artistic Director of Masterworks Chorale in Muncie, where his conducting credits included George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, W.A. Mozart’s Requiem, and Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms.

Daniel Blosser has soloed with several regional orchestras including the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, and is a frequent soloist with the Bach Collegium in Fort Wayne. As a tenor soloist he specializes in early music. Professional credits include: Evangelist for J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), Felix Mendelssohn's St. Paul Oratorio, Charpentier's Te Deum, and Einhorn's Voices of Light.
