The American tenor, Kevin Bryant, obtained his Bachelor of Music from Southwestern University in 2016. He has participated in various operatic training programs such as the Seagle Music Colony, the Mediterranean Opera Studio, and Spotlight on Opera. Since 2017, he has worked to obtain his Master’s of Music at the prestigious Eastman School of Music, studying in the studio of Katherine Ciesinski (expected graduation in 2018).
Some highlights of Kevin Bryant’s performances include his interpretation of Nerone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (Eastman Opera) and Ruggiero in Francesca Caccini’s La liberazione di Ruggiero, both under the musical direction of Paul O’Dette. Other highlights include his two world premieres at the Seagle Music Colony, premiering the role of Mac from Evan Mack’s Roscoe and Hamlet from Herschel Garfein’s Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead. In addition, he has performed the roles of Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore (Southwestern Opera), Herman in Most Happy Fella (Seagle Music Colony), Laurie in Mark Adamo’s Little Women (Southwestern Opera), Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, The Defendant in Trial by Jury (Southwestern Opera), and Der Weise in Paul Hindemith's Hin und Zuruck (Eastman Opera). This summer, he has been asked to join the Studio Artist program with the Wolf Trap Opera company in D.C. and perform the role of Benvolio in Charles Gounod's Romeo et Juliette.
Besides the dozens of J.S. Bach's cantatas he has performed at various churches, Kevin Bryant has also performed in some of Bach's larger works. He recently appeared as the Evangelist in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's production of J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) under the baton of William Weinert (December 2016). He collaborated with Easteman Voices under the baton of David Chin in the complete presentation of J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (David Chin) in March 2017. In another concert with Voices, he performed as the tenor soloist and choir member of J.S. Bach's B minor Mass (BWV 232), under the direction of William Weinert (February 2018). |
