Philip Creech (Tenor)

The American tenor, Philip Creech, made his debut at the Meteropolitan Opera in New York City as Beppe in Pagliacci in 1979. A familiar presence on the roster of the Metropolitan Opera for 18 seasons, he sang a total of 264 performances with the Met in New York and on tour, including 26 radio broadcasts and 5 Live from the Met telecasts, among them Il Trittico (Rinuccio, 1981) and Les Troyens (Hylas, 1983). He was featured in new Met productions of Manon Lescaut (Edmondo, 1980), Igor Stravinsky's Le Rossignol (Voice of the Fisherman, 1981) and Salome (Jew, 1989), as well as the company premieres of Benjamin Britten's Death in Venice (Gondolier, 1974) and Dmitri Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Teacher, 1994). His most frequent roles at the Met were Beppe, Edmondo, Jew in Salome, Pong in Turandot and Pedrillo in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
