Serena Eduljee (Soprano)

Born: March 19, ____ - Seattle, Washington, USA

The American soprano Serena Smalley-Eduljee, attended OperaWorks Advanced Artist Program in Los Angeles; and obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (2008-2012), where she studied under world renowned opera star, Carol Vaness. Competitively, she had the honor of representing the entire Northwest District and won 5th overall in the United States and Canada in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award (NATSAA).

Serena Eduljee’s soaring, rich, precise coloratura and “magnetic” (Entertainment News Northwest) acting has made her one of the Pacific Northwest’s most in-demand singers, and a favorite of opera audiences everywhere. Most recently, she completed a stellar and full performance season highlighting roles as Lisa in La Sonnambula with Puget Sound Concert Opera (March 2023); Nanetta in Falstaff with Puget Sound Concert Opera (June 2022), Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Pacific Northwest Opera (February-March 2022); Violetta and Norina in The Drunken Tenor’s Operapalooza Spectacular Shindig with Tacoma Opera (October-November 2022); as well a many galas and concerts throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Serena Eduljee made her Seattle Symphony Orchestra debut performing the iconic role of Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, a role she is well known for and has performed for Pacific Northwest Opera, Seattle Opera, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Noise and in numerous concerts and recitals. Along with Seattle Symphony Orchestra, she has had a full oratorio season singing the soprano solos in C. Orff's Carmina Burana (February 2019) and J.S. Bach’s Magnificat in D major BWV 243 with the Kirkland Choral Society (December 2022), and George Frideric Handel's The Messiah with the Whatcom Chorale and Bellingham Symphony (December 2019).

Other roles include Olympia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann with Pacific Northwest Opera; Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Pacific Northwest Opera; Nanetta in Falstaff with Puget Sound Concert Opera; Walter in La Wally with Puget Sound Concert Opera; Frasquita in Georges Bizet's Carmen with Pacific Northwest Opera and Opera Bend (2016); Alkandre in Penelope with Vespertine Opera; and Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel with Opera Mariposa in Vancouver, British Columbia (October 2014). Serena Eduljee is a frequent singer with Seattle Opera since 2015 and last completed a season as Princess Gilda in the touring production of Laitman’s The Three Feathers as well as a tour of Cinderella in Spain as the title role (2016-2017). Her performance as Amore (A) in Seattle Opera’s highly acclaimed production of O+E (June 2018) earned much praise. Previous roles with Seattle Opera include preview performances of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, Katyain Katya Kabanova, Violetta in La Traviata, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Alitsa and Raccoon in Seattle Opera's commissioned cycle, Our Earth; as well as many concerts, recitals, and gala events on behalf of Seattle Opera around the greater Seattle area. She has been an honored singer of the Seattle Opera Guild and received their Opera Plus Artist Scholarship of 2015-2016 for her work. Her upcoming performances include: Stella/Olympia/Antonia/Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann with Tacoma Opera in April 2024. She currently resides in Issaquah, Wasington with her husband and their lovable Corgis.
