Einar Gudmundsson (Bass-Baritone)

Born: Iceland

The Icelandic bass-baritone, Einar Th. Gudmundsson, received his education at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg.

From 2003 to 2010, Einar Gudmundsson was an ensemble member of the Vienna Volksoper. There he sang the most important parts of his voice, such Leporello in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Figaro in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Sprecher in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Peter Besenbinder in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Escamillo in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Schaunard in La Bohème, Alidoro in La Cenerentola, Crespel in Hoffmanns Erzählungen, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus and many others.

Einar Gudmundsson has worked with well-known stage directors and conductors such as Helmut Lohner, Josef Köpplinger, Sebastian Weigle, Rudolf Bibl, Marc Piolett, Michael Tomaschek, u. a. Guest engagements have led him to the Salzburg Landestheater, Münchner Philharmonie, Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, Icelandic State Opera and Stadttheater Baden, among others. At the Salzburger Landestheater he has appeared France as Frank in Die Fledermaus, Marchese D'Obigny in La Traviata, Il Conte di Monterone in Rigoletto, Benoît in La Bohème, Johann in Werther and Steuermann in Tristan und Isolde.
