Erik Gustafson (Tenor)

Born: October 6, 1981 - Portland, Oregon, USA

The American tenor, Erik Gaustafson, studied Film and Media Production (2008), and received a his Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from Arizona State University (2009).

Erik Gaustafson is highly active across the nation as an oratorio soloist and choral artist. He has collaborated on choral albums with Bach Collegium San Diego (Director: Ruben Valenzuela), Conspirare in Austin, Texas, the Tucson Chamber Artists, and Sounding Light in Detroit, Michigan. He was Tenor Section Leader at All Saints' Episcopal Church (November 2000-May 2010); Tenor in Phoenix Chorale (2003-2015); eWorks (July 2006-January 2008); Tenor at The Brick Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, New York (September 2010-June 2012).

Erik Gaustafson has also performed as a soloist and chorister with the renowned Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity in New York City, and has performed with the American Symphony Orchestra and The Collegiate Chorale in venues such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall. He has performed as the Evangelist for J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245) with Tucson Chamber Artists, as tenor soloist for Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Abendmusik in Lincoln, Nebraska, as tenor soloist for J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) with Spire Chamber Ensemble in Kansas City, and as Evangelist and tenor soloist for J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) with the Musica Redemptor Orchestra in Austin. He returns to the Arizona Bach Festival for another Evangelist appearance, having already performed both J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) and the St. John Passion (BWV 245) previously.

Erik Gaustafson married Kerry Ginger on June 14, 2014. He currently lives in Durango, Colorado, where he serves as Adjunct Instructor of Voice at Fort Lewis College (since August 2016).
