The Swiss tenor, Reto Hofstetter, studied at the Konservatorium Zürich with Georges Koerper classical saxophone; and with Ruth Binder at the Konservatorium Winterthur singing and finhed in both fields of study with the teaching diploma. After that he continued to educate himself privately with Matthias Toggenburger (Winterthur) and later with Udo Reinemann at the Conservatoire in Metz (France), where he obtained a Lieder singing diploma. At the moment he is being singly supervised by Nicolai Gedda. In 1994 he received the scholarship of the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bundes and in 1997 the Promotion Prize of the Stiftung Kiefer-Hablitzel.
Reto Hofstetter's repertoire range extends from oratorio, opera and operetta to contemporary Music. Highlights have included J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) in Holland with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra and the collaboration with Diego Fasolis in Locarno, as well as the role of the Apotheker in the eponymous opera by J. Haydn at the Schlosshofoper in Friedrichshafen and the role of Mackie Messer in the Threepenny Opera at the Stadttheater Winterthur. |
