Oliver Kringel (Tenor)

Born: Germany

The German tenor, Oliver Kringel, has already received his first singing lessons at age 12 with the Viennese tenor Ferdinand Silhanek. Already at the age of 13, he played the role of David in the eponymous musical composed by his own father. At the age of 15, he was best placed in the national competition "Jugend Musiziert" as the best tenor of his age group nationwide.

In the meantime, Oliver Kringel has devoted himself in particular to oratorio singing and especially early music in his artistic oeuvre and can be heard as a soloist for J.S. Bach, Heinrich Schütz, Monteverdi, etc., both inside and outside Germany. He regularly sings the Evangelist part in J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) as well as in his passions. But also works such as Reinhard Keiser's Markus-Passion, Felix Mendelssohn's Lobgesang, Paulus and Elias, as well as a large part of J.S. Bach's Cantatas belong to his repertoire. In 2016 he performed George Frideric Handel's Messiah with the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan.

Oliver Kringel studied with Martin Hummel at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg and was already heard there as a soloist in the Marienvesper by Monteverdi, Felix Mendelssohn's Paulus, in the opera Gianni Schicchi as Gherardo and in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria in a double role both as Eumete and Pisandro. Other inspirations came through master-classes with Emma Kirkby, Jonathan Seers, Cheryl Studer and Daniela Sindram.

As a member of professional ensembles such as the Kammerchor Stuttgart, Oliver Kringel has already given concerts in Europe, America and Israel under the direction of Frieder Bernius. He also organizes several concerts a year with the Vocalea Quartet and is a regular soloist at the Bach-Kantaten-Club Würzburg (Directors: Kensuke Ohira & Gerhard Polifka). His ensemble skills take into account numerous engagements in professional choirs such as the Süddeutsche Kammerchor, Vocalsolisten Frankfurt, Chamber Choir of Europe, etc.
