Tim O'Brien (Baritone)

Born: USA

The American baritone singing teacher and choral conductor, Tim O'Brien, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music & English from Gustavus Adolphus College (1999); his Master of Arts degree in Musicology (2000-2005) and PhD in Musicology (Anticipated: 2010) from University of Minnesota; and his Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from The University of Texas at Austin (2016).

Tim O'Brien was Graduate Instructor of Record at University of Minnesota (September 2000-May 2005); taught and conducted at Gustavus Adolphus College (September 2006-October 2011); and was Adjunct Instructor of Music at Concordia University (September 2008-June 2009); Then then relocated to Austin. As of 2019, he was on the faculty at St. Edward's University, Director of Music at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Austin and is Artistic Director of Living Paper Song Project. Currently he is Lecturer of Voice at Texas State University (since August 2021).

Tim O'Brien sang with the Dale Warland Singers and also served as their Office & Personnel Manager (August 1999-July 2000). He has also sung with Austin Opera, Minnesota Opera, National Lutheran Choir, and Rose Ensemble (August 2001-April 2010). Recently he performed J.S. Bach's B Minor Mass BWV 232 with Portland Oregon’s The Ensemble, where his “vibrant and subtle” singing was praised by Oregon Artswatch. His performances can be heard on eleven commercial recordings, including the Grammy-nominated Walden Pond.
