Paul-Peter Polak (Bass)

Born: The Hague, the Netherlands

The Dutch IT expert and bass singer, Paul-Peter Polak, studied at Vrije School, The Hague (HBS-B: 1967-1973); and at PBNA (HBO+, Senior Electronics Engineer - Computer technique: June 1974-July 1977; Choirmaster, musical theories: 1973-1975). He also studied choral conducting at Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague (Class of 1976).

Paul-Peter Olak has been involved in the IT business long enough to have fully witnessed the development of the computer from mainframe to the current tablets and smartphones. After being a systems analyst and information analyst for a while he became involved in technical IT infrastructures. He gathered a broad knowledge in all areas of IT infrastructure. At the same time he developed an extensive vision on information management and processing, IT applications and supporting business processes with IT technology. He has developed good analytical skills as well as the ability to see things in the right perspective; He is capable of transposing technology into policies, performing well under pressure and operating carefully and focussing on results. During his career he has fulfilled many different roles such as systems analyst, developer, information analyst, system administrator, infrastructure specialist, project manager, team manager and for the past 10 years also as an architect. His focus as architect ranges from technical infrastructures to the enterprise (including information & business architecture). During the past 25 years he has been involved in many activities regarding information security. Specialties: enterprise architecture, virtualisation, information security; Management: team management, project management (Prince2), process management (ITIL).

His professional experince in the IT business include: Systems Analyst/Developer at Rijkswaterstaat DIV (January 1978-March 1983); Information Analyst/Consultant at Rijkswaterstaat DIV (April 1983-June 1988); Manager Internal IT at Rijkswaterstaat DIV (July 1988-December 1989); Manager Internal IT at Informatica Centrum voor Infrastructuur en Milieu (ICIM) (January 1990-June 1994); Regional Support Engineer at HP Enterprise Services (formerly EDS International) (July 1994-September 1998); Productmanager IT Infrastructure at Enertel - WorldPort (October 1998-March 1999); Teamleader IT Infrastructure at Energis PLC (Cable & Wireless) (1999- 2002); Teamleader IT Infrastructure at energis (April 1999-July 2002); Productmanager IT Infrastructure/ TI Architect at Enertel (August 2002-December 2005); Infrastructure Architect at vts Politie Nederland (March 2006-August 2008); TI Architect at Be Value (February 2006-September 2008); TI Architect at Ordina (October 2008-March 2009); Infrastructure Architect at Nuon ICT (October 2008-March 2009); Consultant / Architect at Codec-IT (September 2009); Project architect / consultant at vts Politie Nederland (November 2009); TI Architect at Codec-IT (April 2009-March 2010); ICT / Informatie & Business architect at PWN (since June 2010).

In the area of music Paul-Peter Polak was singer in the Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Director: Jos van Veldhoven) for 19 years (1983-2002). Since 1994, he is a member of the Lid Artistieke Commissie (Artistic Committee) of the the Nederlandse Bachvereniging. The Artistic Committee is an advisory board for the management of the Netherlands Bach Society. The AC develops the programs for the yearly concert season of the Bach Society, based on artistic views that are supported by musicological insight and current performance practices. In order to be eligible for government sponsoring there is a need for an integral artistic and business plan covering a 4 year time span for which the AC provides the artistic input. One of the responsibilities of the AC is to assess the results of the planning and artistic proposals. He currently lives in Bergschenhoek, the Netherlands.
