Nikolaus Rentrop (Bass)

Born: Meinerzhagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

The German bass, Nikolaus Rentrop, obtained his Master of Arts degree in Political Science and Romanic Philology from Heidelberg University (2006-2013); and his postgraduate degree (M.Eval, Evaluation of International Development Cooperation) from the Universität des Saarlandes: Center for Evaluation (2016-2024). He also studied in Portuguese Philology and International Relations at the Faculdade de Letras (Faculty of Humanities) at the Universidade do Porto as an ERASMUS exchange student (2011); had two-months intensive language training Persian/Farsi at the International Center for Persian Studies of University of Tehran (2011).

Nikolaus Rentrop worked as Research Associate/Lecturer at Universität Heidelberg (October 2013-March 2015); Guest lecturer at Kolegji ISPE Pristina (April 2015-May 2016); and Consultant/Evaluator/Project Officer in international cooperation at Alteri - Cross-Cultural Projects in Heidelberg (since June 2016). Most recently, he supported DEval in three German development cooperation country portfolio reviews with Côte d'Ivoire, Madagascar, and Senegal, implemented two central project evaluations for GIZ, co-authored a study on resilience against food insecurity in Togo during the COVID19 pandemic and contributed to one contributed to corporate strategy evaluation. His content expertise includes the topics of governance and the rule of law, LNOB, vocational training and gender in the context of rural development. In evaluations and analyses, he worked with various quantitative and qualitative research methods. He has regional knowledge and work experience in Southeast Europe, West Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

Nikolaus Rentrop also perfoms as a bass singer in concerts of sacred music. He is a member of the vocal ensembles MannSingt! and Capella Carlsruhe (Director: Peter Gortner).
