Ann Sauder (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: August 1982 - Peoria, Illinois, USA

The American mezzo-soprano, Ann Sauder, received her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice (2002-2005) and her Master of Music degree in Voice from Indiana University (IU) Jacobs School of music (spring of 2009 ). She has studied with Patricia Stiles, Carlos Serrano, Susan B. Anthony and Dawn Harris, and has participated in master-classes with Roger Vignoles, Russell Ryan, Nico Castel, Roger Vignoles and Nancy Gustafson. She has participated in master-classes with.

Lauded as a "sumptuously and flexibly voiced mezzo-soprano" by the Bloomington Herald Times, Ann Sauder is establishing her reputation in the operatic arena. She has performed regularly on the Musical Arts Center stage, appearing with Indiana University Opera Theater as Sesto in George Frideric Handel's Giulio Cesare (2008-2009), Hansel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel (November 2006), Dorabella in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, under the tutelage of Patricia Stiles. Second Lady in W.A. Mozart's The Magic Flute, and Praskovia/Do-do in The Merry Widow. Also at IU, she took a special interest in new music, and performed numerous times as a soloist with the Indiana University New Music Ensemble and Indiana University Contemporary Vocal Ensemble. She has also performed the roles of Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Dryad in Ariadne auf Naxos, and Aunt Eller in Oklahoma! with the Brevard Music Center Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center Summer Festival, and has performed as a soloist with the Indiana University Philharmonic, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Brevard Music Center Philharmonic Orchestra, and Columbia Chorale. In her hometown of Peoria Illinois, she has appeared as a guest artist with Opera Illinois and the Peoria Sinfonietta.

Ann Sauder currently resides in Austin Texas where she studies with Cindy Sadler. She made her debut with the Austin Lyric Opera as Annina in their fall 2010 production of La Traviata and appeared as Zulma in their spring 2011 production of L'Italiana in Algeri.
