Alois Späth (Baritone)

Born: 1972 - Oberpfalz (Upper Palatinate), Bavaria, Germany

The German baritone and sound artist/designer, Alois Späth, received the musical basics in the scool of the Regensburger Domspatzen. He graduated with Master of Arts degree (Magister Artium) in musicology and German studies from the Universität Regensburg with the Julius-Neumüller-Stipendiums. Even during this time, he continued to educate himself in private singing and then became a freelance singer.

Alois Späth has worked as a professional singer in various internationally renowned choirs and ensembles, such as Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), RIAS-Kammerchor (Current Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), Weser Renaissance, Stimmwerck, Internationalen Paul Hofhaymer Gesellschaft Salzburg, Ensemble Offizium (Director: Wilfried Rombach), and others. His repertoire ranges from the music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance over works of the Baroque and Classical period to modern and contemporary music, where he also performed in numerous solo performances and premieres. In Regensburg, he appeared in the summer of 2007 as a bass soloist in Joseph Haydn's Schöpfung.

Alois Späth is also the initiator of numerous musical and cultural projects in Regensburg: he is co-founder of the Kunst- und Kulturfördervereins (Art and Cultural Funding Association) Oktogon Niedermünster eV, founder of the StimmWercktage Adlersberg, initiator of the time and style spanning project DJ Machaut, as well as half and driving force of the the vocal-experimental duo Parkdeck (founded in 2004).

In 2011, Alois Späth graduated with Master of Arts Sound Studies - Acoustic Communication from Universität der Künste Berlin in the class for experimental sound design with the sound installation "Panharmonicon 2" - since then he works internationally as a sound artist and sound designer.
