The English bass, Richard Standen, studied at the Guildhall School of Music.
Richard Standen made his debut at the Royal Albert Hall with the Bach Choir in 1949. He sang at all main Music Festivals in Britain & with many leading Choral Societies. He participated in BBC Prom Concerts & broadcasts frequently in Choral Works & Recitals on TV & Sound. Engagements abroad included Holland, Belgium, Austria, Contemporary Festival of Music Cologne in 1958: Händel Festival Barcelona in 1959; Haydn Festival Madrid in 1959. He specialised in oratorio and opera and also gave recitals.

Richard Standen was married with Marian Hughes. His hobbies: carpentry, walking. He was a member of Incorporated Society of Musicians and Association of English Singers & Teachers. |
