The American soprano, Addy Sterrett, graduated from and Interlochen Arts Academy and DePauw University She studied Early Music Vocal Performance at Yale Institute of Sacred Music (2016-2018).
Addy Sterrett enjoys exploring a wide variety of solo and ensemble repertoire and has been praised for her “focused, ethereal…crystalline tone and adept precision” (Academy of Sacred Drama). Her recent solo engagements include the premiere of William Cooper’s St. Luke Passion and Requiem, the USA premiere of Joseph Kraus’ Requiem with Voices of Ascension, J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion (BWV 245) and Reena Esmail’s This Love Between Us with Yale Schola Cantorum, and Felix Mendelssohn’s Hör mein Bitten with the Yale Glee Club. In addition to her solo engagements, she is a roster member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale and sings regularly with many NYC churches.
Lauded for her interpretation of Baroque music, Addy Sterrett has performed many cantatas and oratorios from the likes of George Frideric Handel and J.S. Bach under the baton of Masaaki Suzuki, David Hill, and Simon Carrington. Equally sought after in the new music world, she has premiered numerous works by young composers and enjoys the collaborative nature, creativity, and freedom of expression new works require. She has coached with and performed the music of David Lang, John Harbison, John Musto, Reena Esmail, William Cooper, and many others. Other musical endeavors and interests include singing and collaborating with her band SugarCave and playing the mountain dulcimer. |
