The German contralto/mezzo-soprano, Pauline Stöhr, took violin lessons at the age of 5 and sang in the Kinderchor Tübingen Innenstadt (Children's Choir) with Ingo Bredenbach. Shortly afterwards, her first singing lessons followed at the Musikschule Tübingen with Lydia Allert and later at the Musikschule Reutlingen with Susan Eitrich. She won several federal awards at Jugend musiziert in solo and ensemble categories and was a scholarship holder of the “Förderverein Glocke” of the der Freimaurerloge Reutlingen. In April 2015 she began studying singing at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe with Hanno Müller-Brachmann. There, in addition to singing operas, Lieder and oratorios, she also devoted herself intensively to new music, sang various premieres and had the opportunity to work with composers such as Dieter Schnebel and Wolfgang Rihm on their pieces.
As a scholarship holder of the internationalen Bachakademie Stuttgart in 2017, Pauline Stöhr had the opportunity to work as a soloist with Helmuth Rilling and Hans-Christoph Rademann and took part in master-classes with Andreas Scholl and Peter Harvey. She attended numerous other master-classes with Ingeborg Danz, Anna Bonitatibus, Cornelia Kallisch and Ann Murray. In 2019 she was heard as Zita in Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi with the jungen Kollektiv Musiktheater Karlsruhe. After completing her Bachelor's degree in 2019, she continued her Master's degree at Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum der Universität Augsburg with Daniela Denschlag and successfully completed it in October 2022.
Pauline Stöhr now works successfully as a freelance singer and travels both at home and abroad as a soloist and ensemble singer. She is a regular guest in the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart (Director: Yuval Weinberg) with whom she sang numerous premieres and is also part of various ensembles such as the Zürcher Sing-Akademie (Director: Timothy Brown/Florian Helgath) and Vocalensemble Rastatt (Director: Holger Speck) and has worked with well-known conductors such as Paavo Järvi, Kent Nagano, René Jacobs and Domingo Hindoyan. She currently lives in Karlsruhe, Germany. |
