Fabian Strotmann (Tenor)

Born: 1985 - Germany

The German lyric tenor, Fabian Strotmann, first studied vocal pedagogy guided by Christoph Scheeben followed by an artistic masters degree instructed by Martin Wölfel at the Folkwang-Hochschule für Musik Essen (2007-2014). Beyond that, he joined master-courses with The Hilliard Ensemble and The Tallis Scholars (Director: Peter Phillips), followed by engagements with RIAS-Kammerchor (2014-January 2015), NDR-Chor (2014-January 2015) and SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart (2012-January 2015). Through various international master courses he gained important musical and singing influences, e.g. from Diane Forlano, Stewart Emerson, Dominik Wortig and James Taylor.

Fabian Strotmann belongs to the most versatile solo artists of todays generation in Germany. As concert singer he is a regular guest performer in the major concert halls, such as Konzerthaus Berlin, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Cologne Philharmonie and Essen Philharmonie and in international festivals such as Bachwoche Stuttgart and Ruhrtriiiennale. He has worked with conductors like Helmuth Rilling, Florian Helgath, Andrea Marcon and ensembles such as Concerto Köln, The Emerson Consort, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart and HR-Sinfonieorchester as well as The Radio-Symphonie-Orchester-Berlin. He is also a member of ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath; since 2012), Zürcher Sing-Akademie (since December 2015) and MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig (since January 2016) and Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering).

Fabian Strotmann developed an inspiring passion for Lied: While playing numerous Lied-recitals together with best-known accompanist Tatjana Dravenau, they regularly keep on getting as close to the acting spots of great Lied-composers. That is why they chose to play concerts at Mendelssohn-Haus Leipzig and at Robert-Schumann-Haus Zwickau.

Fabian Strotmann'S Repertoire includes works from middleaged Choralschola to todays modern operas. Still he focuses on lyric tenorparts from oratorio and concert. In 2016 , he had his American debut in the modern opera De Materie by Louis Andriessen at the Armory Hall New York.
