Georgi Sztojanov (Tenor)

Born: October 24, 1985 - Budapest, Hungary

The Bulgarian-born composer, tenor singer, and improviser, Georgi Ognjanov Sztojanov, grew up in Hungary, living and studying currently in Den Haag, The Netherlands. He obtained his first master degree in composition from Liszt Ferenc Music Academy Budapest (2009), and his second from The Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatory) in Den Haag (2012), where he is currently studying Classical Singing as Major and Conducting as Minor.

Georgi Sztojanov's works exhibit a wide spectrum of genres and styles: from opera to oratorio, vocal to instrumental, songs, choir works, ensembles and solos, music theatre pieces, applied music for theatre and film. His opera, Sinking, was premiered by the Dutch National Opera Academy in January 2013. His pieces were performed by Asko|Schönberg Ensemble, Amadinda, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Children’s Choir, Ensemble Royaal, MAE and many more on festivals such as Dag in de Branding (Den Haag), Greenwhich Early Music Festival, Making New Waves and IKZE.

As a singer Georgi Sztojanov experience is also diverse: from bel canto to alternative, from early music to modern premieres, from baritone and tenor to counter-tenor and sopranist, as soloist and in ensembles and choirs. He is a member of Tenso Europe Chamber Choir and Groot Omroepkoor. He is also a vocal and instrumental improviser (violin, keyboards, flute, percussion).

Georgi Sztojanov also works as freelance music tutor/teacher in singing, solfegge, composing since 2009. He is teacher of 'Modern Vocal Ensemble' project for singers and composers Koninklijk Conservatorium; and Guest Conductor of National Boys Choir (Nationale Koren). He currently lives in The Hagure, the Netherlands.
