Patricia Wagner (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German mezzo-soprano, Patricia Wagner, initially completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim; later she had artistic postgraduate studies with an emphasis on opera at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, where she successfully completed her studies as Nancy in Benjamin Britten's opera Albert Herring.

Patricia Wagner made her opera debut as part of the opera school she previously gave as Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Theater Baden-Baden and was engaged for several seasons in the Kinderoper am Nationaltheater Mannheim.

The focus of Patricia Wagner's solo career lies mainly in the concert area and includes recitals as well as the alto parts in oratorios. Cantate has released a solo CD of Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noel, in which she performed the mezzo and alto roles. She sang with the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben and performed at the Mannheimer Schlossfestspiele and the Open-Air Festival in Nürtingen as maid Ciboletta in Eine Nacht in Venedig.

As an ensemble member of the Gächinger Kantorey Stuttgart (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), Patricia Wagner is involved in numerous festivals and concert tours at home and abroad, as well as in CD and TV productions. She collaborates with well-known conductors and orchestras. From 2005 to 2013 she was a freelance member of the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln and has been singing since 2010 in Konzertchor des Bayerischen Rundfunk München.

In addition to her work as a singer, Patricia Wagner has been teaching children and adults for many years. She worked for 10 years in the Musikschule Kornwestheim and in 2017 took over a singing class at the Musikschule Stuttgart. The project "Singende Grundschule" (after Jekiss) in Aichwald (2016-2017) with more than 200 children and teachers is an important building block in her teaching and puts another emphasis on children's voice education.
