Steven Warnock (Baritone)

Born: July 13, 1993 - Coatbridge, Scotland, UK

The Scottish baritone, Steven M. Warnock, obtained his HND degree in Musical Theatre from the Coatbridge College (2011-2013); his Bachelor of Music degree with Honours in Vocal Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (August 2015-May 2019); Masters of Music, Voice and Opera from Indiana University Bloomington (August 2019-May 2021). He currently studies for his Performance Diploma in Voice at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (expected graduation: 2023).

Steven Warnock is a self-employed is a classically trained singer, working since October 2013 in a broad range of styles. He performs in operas and musicals, engages with his community through music forward volunteering, and collaborates regularly with composers and creatives to bring new works to life. He is determined to broaden exposure and access to the arts through his performances and engagement in global communities.

Steven Warnock has worked privately with Distinguished Professor Timothy Noble and Professor Julia Bentley. His operatic roles include Captain Corcoran in Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore, Friedrich Bhaer in Adamo’s Little Women, Marco in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, and Steve Sankey in Weill's Street Scene. As a chorus member, he has appeared in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea (IU), George Frideric Handel's Xerxes (IU), Benjamin Britten's Owen Wingrave (RCS), Strauss’s Die Flederamaus (RCS), and Jonathan Dove’s The Day After (RCS with ENO). He has also featured in Scottish Opera’s concert performance of Prokofiev’s Fiery Angel and alongside Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and his Orchestre Revolutionaire et Romantique, as a member of The National Youth Choir of Scotland in Edinburgh, Paris, London, Lyon, Michigan and New York City. In May 2022, he was bass soloist at The Bloomington Bach Cantata Project; and in June 2022, he sang the role of Sam in Pirates of Penzance at Cedar Rapids Opera in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Since August 2021, he is Associate Instructor at Indiana University Student Academic Center. He is Bach Institute 2023 Fellow of Emmanuel Music (Artistic Director: Ryan Turner).
