History & Mission

Bach's Lunch is a longstanding tradition at Starmount. Each March since 1985, to celebrate the birthday of J.S. Bach (March 21), Starmount presents a week of concerts by some of our community’s most gifted musical artists. Concerts begin at 12:15 p.m. and last approximately 30 minutes. Each concert is followed by a free lunch in the Fellowship Hall to which all are invited. Bach's Lunch is Starmount’s gift to our community free of charge.

Starmount's Bach’s Lunch at Starmount Presbyterian Church brings great music and luncheon to the Piedmont Triad. More than 15,000 have attended the 2013 Bach's Lunch concerts performed by top area musicians and enjoyed a light lunch prepared by our fabulous Starmount volunteers. This is a gift to our community and each year hundreds embrace this Starmount offering by enjoying the music, food and fellowship.
Starmount’s Bach’s Lunch series was conceived in 1985 by then music director Loretta Gordon James. Originally, the series featured mostly organists but quickly evolved into a forum for other instrumentalists and vocalists as well.
