Christian Wilhelm Conrad (Pastor, Bach's Pupil)

Born: December 12, 17291 or December 12, 17282 - Werda, near Auerbach, Vogtland, Saxony, Germany
Died: June 23, 1774 - Werda, near Auerbach, Saxony, Germany1 or Oelsnitz, Vogtland, Saxony, Germany2

Christian Wilhelm Conrad was born the son of Gottfried Conrad (1688-1765; Pastor in Werda) and Christiane Henriette Schertzer (1695-1770). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on January 16, 1748; studied there from 1748 to 1751, since c1745 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from 1751. He obtained his Magister degree in in Wittenberg in 1754. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his studies, he worked as Substitute from 1757 and Pastor from 1765 in Werda.
