Created in 1994, the Cor de la Facultat de Farmàcia de la Universitat de Barcelona (Choir of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Barcelona) is made up of students or teachers, former students or other members of the university community. In addition to participating in concerts organised by the faculty itself and university choir meetings, the choir participates intensively in activities organised by other entities and citizen associations.
Its musical repertoire includes pieces from the Renaissance to the present day in all types of formats and genres, from popular songs from around the world to jazz and gospel, with special mention of a unique pharmaceutical-themed commissioned piece, Herbarius, hortus sanitatis.
In 2004, on the occasion of its ten years of activity and thanks to the support of the Salvat Laboratories patronage, the Choir began a new stage that allowed it to cover a wider repertoire and a constant improvement of its musical level. In 2012, the Cor de la Facultat de Farmàcia and the Salvat Foundation signed a new collaboration agreement that led to a decisive increase in choir activity.
Cor de la Facultat de Farmàcia is made up of singers who seek to share music in the unique environment of the University. The choir holds weekly rehearsals: every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm in classroom A1 of the Faculty. These rehearsals serve to prepare the different concerts of the course, as well as the musical performances of the institutional events of the Faculty. It works on a diverse repertoire, which brings together different styles and periods. It encourages exchange with other choirs, sharing choral productions. It carries out major projects with an orchestra. The musical direction of the choir is in charge of a professional conductor, since 2012 it is the Turkish conductor and composer, Ahmet Süleyman Bilgin. It invests in vocal training: it has the figure of the vocal trainer, who is a renowned singer and teacher of vocal technique, who prepares the singers with group and individualized sessions in each rehearsal. It carries out extra activities of interest for the entire choir: cultural activities (concerts, traditional dance workshops, museums, cinema, etc.) and leisure activities (excursions, snacks, parties, etc.). Singing in a choir is an institutional activity recognized with 3 ECTS for each course as an active singer. |
