The Residentie Bachkoor (Bach Choir) was founded in 1972. The present choir (100 singers) has specialized in the music of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries. The ensemble regularly performs J.S. Bach's cantatas in the Kloosterkerk at The Hague. Its repertoire mainly consists of all the major works for chorus and orchestra of the period: Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), Mätthaus-Passion (BWV 244) and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Mass in B minor (BWV 232), Magnificat (BWV 243) by J.S. Bach. There are also some works from other style periods on the choir's repertoire. With the Residentie Bachorkest the choir toured several European countries for concerts, performing J.S. Bach's major works and cantatas in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and Poland. The group also regularly takes parts in concerts by the Residentie Orkest (Hague Philharmonic Orchestra).
