Bach-Collegium München (Instrumental Ensemble)

Founded: 1973-1974 - Munich, Germany

Bach-Collegium München (The Bach Collegium Munich) (= BCM) comprises leading musicians from the Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra, the Münchner Philharmoniker and the Bavarian State Orchestrn. Some of the members are prize-winners of national and international music competitions and hold professorships at German music colleges. The Bach-Collegium München is mainly devoted to baroque music, the classics and the romantics. The soloists for the instrumental concerts are generally recruited from among their own ranks. Both works for symphony orchestras and chamber music pieces are performed. The Mozart interpretations of the Bach-Collegium München are particularly esteemed.

Concert tours in Europe, the Far East and South America have been as enthusiastically received as the participation in national and international music festivals, such as the Istanbul Festival, the Berlin Festwochen, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival etc. In 1987 the Bach-Collegium München was awarded the sponsorship prize of the Emst-von-Siemens foundation. The concerts and tours with the Neubeuem choral association under the direction of Enoch zu Guttenberg have become a permanent fixtulre.

Radio and television recordings document the musical achievements of the Bach-Collegium München.
