The tenor, Jan Caals, studied at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven and at the Koninklijk Muziekconservatorium (Royal Music Academy) in Brussels, where he won the first prize and gained the higher diploma for solo singing.
Jan Caals has been core member of the Capilla Flamenca since 1993. He has also co-operated regularly with the Flemish opera, Il Fondamento, the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Philharmonia Hungarica, the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Le Parlement de Musique, and other vocal and instrumental ensembles.
At present Jan Caals teaches at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven and the Rijksacademie of Alsemberg give at. His repertoire ranges from the Baroque polyphony to contemporary music, and he has been involved in several recording projects. For example, he took part in 10-CD's project of Flemish polyphonic composers. Many concert tours brought him to Europe and Asia. |
