Michele Concato (Tenor)

Born: June 17, 1978 - Bologna, Italy

The Italian tenor, Michele Concato, studied at Liceo Scientifico Augusto Righi in Bologna. He received his first musical training in the Cappella Musicale di S.Petronio in Bologna. Graduated; in singing at the Conservatorio Frescobaldi in Ferrara under the guidance of the baritone Garbis Boyadjian; he perfected with William Matteuzzi, Claudio Desderi, Laura Sarti and Alessio Tosi. Hae also studied at Facoltà di Architettura "Biagio Rossetti" - Università degli studi di Ferrara.

Michele Concato is active in the sacred and secular repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. He collaborates with prestigious ensembles of early music (A Sei Voci, Concerto, DSG, Ghislieri Choir and Consort, I Turchini, Coro Maghini- Academia Montis Regalis, Il Continuo, Melodi Cantores, La Stagione Armonica), with whom he performed in important concert seasons (Musica Insieme, Ravenna Festival, Sagra Musicale Malatestiana, MiTo, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Pavia Barocca, Organi Antichi, Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, Festival de musique baroque d’Ambronay, Festival Oudemuziek Utrecht, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, George Enescu Festival). He has sung as a soloist under the direction of B. Fabre-Garrus, G. Prandi, A. Florio, Filippo Maria Bressan, Egida Giodani Sartori, C. Rovaris, L. Magiera, A. Cremonesi, C. Desderi, M. Vannelli, Claudio Chiavazza; and participated, as a chorister, in productions directed by E. Inbal, Christopher Hogwood, Zubin Mehta, G. Gelmetti, Jeffrey Tate, Helmuth Rilling, Ottavio Dantone, Ivor Bolton, J. Valcuha, Riccardo Muti, Alessandro de Marchi. He has performed the roles of Pepicek in Brundibar by H. Kràsa, Liscione in the intermezzo La Dirindina by D. Scarlatti, the role of the pastor in Oedipus Rex by Igor Stravinsky, Ferrando in Così fan tutte and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart and Cecco in the opera Il mondo della luna by F.J. Haydn.

Michele Concato took part in the recording of several CD's for the Tactus, Dynamic, Studio SM, Arts, Sony, Glossa labels and for the Amadeus and Classic Voice magazines Voice, under the direction of R. Gini, B. Fabre-Garrus, G. Kuhn, G. Prandi, A. Florio, M. Vannelli, E. Sartori, D. Bononcini. He currently lives in Bologna, Italy.
