The Bulgarian soprano, Alena Dantcheva, she began her musical studies in Sofia, Bularia, continued at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Torino (1994-2002). She obtained there her diploma with Gabriella Bosio, in harp in 1996 and in Gregorian chant in 1999. At the same time she began studying singing with Laura Bracco. Thanks to a scholarship from the De Sono Associazione per la Musica, she is currently (as of 2008) studying in Vienna with Claudia Visca.
Alena Dantcheva performs both solo and ensemble in Europe and Japan with a repertoire that ranges from Gregorian chant to contemporary music, with particular interest in Renaissance and Baroque music. She has collaborated with many groups dedicated to early music, including Daltrocanto (Director: Dario Tabbia), Cantica Symfonia (Director: Giuseppe Maletto), La Venexiana (Director: Claudio Cavina), Gli Affetti Musicali (Claudio Chiavazza), L'Ensemble William Byrd (Director: Graham CTReilly), I vocalisti dell'Accademia (Director: Pietro Busca), II Falcone (Director: Fabrizio Cipriani), Concerto Italiano (Director: Rinaldo Alessandrini), Ensemble L'Astrée (Director: Giorgio Tabacco), Coro della Radio Svizzera (Director: Diego Fasolis). She has sung with the Orchestre II Quartettone (Director: Giorgio Mezzanotte), Academia Montis Regalis (Director: Alessandro De Marchi), I Barocchisti (Director: Diego Fasolis). In the field of contemporary music she often collaborates with Trio Debussy, Fiari Ensemble and Torino Vocal Ensemble. She has been a guest of numerous national and international festivals.
