Lucio Golino (Conductor)

Born: October 14, 1966 - Bolzano, Italy

The Italian conductor, Lucio Golino, grew up in Bolzano in a multi-lingual environment and studied in his homeland at the conservatories of Bolzano (Istituto Magistrale Giovanni Pascoli Bolzano) and Trento. There he studied the subjects clarinet, choral music, composition and instrumentation for wind ensembles. After successfully completing his studies, he moved to Vienna to study conducting (choir and orchestra) at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst and also completed these studies summa cum laude (1989-1995).

From 1996 to 2003 he was engaged as a conductor and Kapellmeister at the Wiener Sängerknaben and successfully directed this world-famous choir through numerous tours at home and abroad. As part of these tours, he conducted the Wiener Sängerknaben at New York Carnegie Hall concerts, in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Baltimore, Detroit and Chicago, as well as Toronto, Montreal, at the Philharmonie Berlin, Gewandhaus of Leipzig, Wiener Musikverein and in the cultural centers of Europe. These include Milan, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Monaco, Cologne, Dresden, Dublin and Liverpool. Last but not least, Lucio Golino directed the Wiener Sängerknaben through tours in South Africa (Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria) and Japan (Tokyo, Yokosuka, Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto and Yokohama). In addition to his work as conductor and Kapellmeister of the Wiener Sängerknaben, Lucio Golino also conducted individual concerts of the Radio Symphonie Orchesters Wien.

Lucio Golino is currently the Kapellmeister at the Wiener Staatsoper (since September 2005) and is the director of the Kinder- und Jugendchor an der Wiener Volksoper. In addition, he has been the guest conductor of the Wiener Tonkunstvereinigung for many years and heads the already Chorwoche der Wiener Tonkunstvereinigung every summer. Since 2017 he has another choir. He currently lives in Vienna, Austria.
