Serafin Heusser (Baritone)

Born: Zürich, Kanton Zürich, Switzerland,

The Swiss baritone, Serafin Heusser, studied with Professor Peter Brechbühler at the Hochschule Luzern, graduating in Master Performance with Minor Early Music; and at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste with Professor Scot Weir, raduating the Master's vocal pedagogy with honors. Singing master-classes with Robert Dean Smith, Karlheinz Hanser & Margreet Honig and stylistic master-classes with Barthold Kuijken, Anton Steck and Ton Koopman complemented his previous training in addition to various Lied duo courses. He is the recipient of the Edwin Fischer-Gedenkpreises, Migros-Kulturprozent scholarship holder and Wagner scholarship holder.

Because the chamber music repertoire is very important to Serafin Heusser, he works with various vocal ensembles, including the Schweizer Vokalconsort and Lied duo partners: currently with Edward Rushton, Elio Coria and the guitarist Aljaz Cvirn.

Since the beginning of his training Serafin Heusser has dealt intensively with the romantic Lied repertoire and has already performed Schubert's Winterreise & Schöne Müllerin, Robert Schumann's Dichterliebe & Liederkreis and Ralph Vaughan Williams' Songs of Travel, among others. Another repertoire focus of his work is Baroque music. Among other things, he is in the Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz) and also has a lively concert activity as a soloist in masses, cantatas and oratorios.

In addition to his artistic work, Serafin Heusser has been employed as a solo singing teacher at the Musikschule Würenlos since 2014 and gives private solo and choral vocal training in individual and group lessons.
