Mitteldeutsche Virtuosen (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

The Mitteldeutschen Virtuosen (Central German Virtuosos) are a chamber orchestra conducted by Kapellmeister Fabian Enders, performing on modern instruments in regular cooperation with the Sächsischer Kammerchor. The orchestra brings together musicians from the Städtischenorchester Leipzig, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig and other orchestras in central Germany. The focus of the work is content-oriented interpretations of works of the 18th century - especially J.S. Bach's sacred music - which are brought to the fore with a great sense for their plasticity and drama, with great emphasis placed on the inclusion of chamber music qualities.

The concert-master of the Mitteldeutschen Virtuosen is Edwin Ilg (Gewandhausorchester Leipzig).
