John Joseph Mortensen (Piano)

Born: USA

The American pianist and composer, John Joseph Morttensen, received his B. Mus. A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and his Master's and DMA from Maryland-College Park. He earned his doctorate in piano performance from the University of Maryland.

John Joseph Mortensen serves as Associate Professor of Piano and Director of Keyboard Studies at Cedarville University in Ohio. He performs in the USA midwest. His performances and compositions have been heard in lots of different places, none of them terribly prestigious. He is a member of the traditional Irish band The Demerits, playing button box and pennywhistles. The Demerits have released a CD called "Plays Well With Others" and are having a great time playing here and there. He also serves in leadership at a small urban church plant in Springfield, Ohio, where the good folks patiently endure the songs he writes.
