The Hungarian choral conductor, Lőrinc Muntag, began his musical studies at the Szent István Zeneiskolában, and from 2001 he continued his violin studies at the Solti György Zeneiskolában. He started playing the piano at the age of 12 at the Tóth Aladár Zeneiskolában. He sang in choirs from the age of 7, including in the Schola Hungaricában (Director: László Dobszay) and in the Szent István Fiúkórusban (Director: Zoltán Mizsei). From the age of 12, he played the violin and viola in the student string orchestra led by Géza Gémesi and then in the Budapest-Hegyvidéki Kamarazenek.
From 2003 to 2007 Lőrinc Muntag attended the composition department of István Fekete Győr at the Bartók Konzervatórium; from 2007 he was a student of László Vidovszky at the Zeneakadémián; in 2013 he graduated with honors. He participated in the composition courses of Gyula Csapó, Péter Eötvös, Christian Wolff, Larry Polansky, Jon Gibson and Charles Ames. His teachers were also Marcell Dargay, Zoltán Jeney, András Wilheim, Zsolt Serei, János Dobra, Margit Magyar.
Lőrinc Muntag has sung in several choirs and choirs, and since January 2014 has been the musical director of the traditional Roman rite masses of the Belvárosi Főplébániatemplom; he founded the Istvánffy Kamarakórus in the same year. Since 2015, he has been the artistic director of the Keresztelő Szent János Énekes Iskola in Zsámbék. |
