Betty Oberacker (Piano)

Born: USA

The American pianist and teacher, Betty Oberacker, is acclaimed as a piano soloist and chamber musician of international stature. She has toured throughout Europe, Israel, Asia, Australia, Mexico and the USA. She is renowned for her interpretations of both traditional and contemporary repertoire, and her formidable technique and penetrating musical insight have inspired many important composers to dedicate their works to her.

Betty Oberacker has recorded for Century, Klavier, MMC, Orion and VMM Records. The New York Times noted, "Her intelligence and warmth not only showed us the design of Bach's inner workings, but it also allowed us to feel them in sensuous ways."

A distinguished artist-teacher, Betty Oberacker has been artist-in-residence at leading conservatories and universities worldwide. She is Professor Emeritus (piano and chamber music) at the Ohio State University, and at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
