Klemens Schnorr (Organ)

Born: 1949 - Amorbach im Odenwald, Germany

The German organist and music scholars, Klemens Schnorr, studied at the Musikhochschule and the University of Munich (organ with Franz Lehrndorfer, musicology with Rudolf Bockholdt). In 1975 he won first prize at the International Organ Competition Bologna. His other awards include in 1986, the Prize of the Free State of Bavaria.

Klemens Schnorr first served as church musician at München-Fürstenried; subsequently he was a lecturer art the Hermann-Zilcher-Konservatorium in Würzburg and at the Musikhochschule München, lecturer at the University of Munich and organ expert for church musicians in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising. In 1991, he was appointed full professor at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1998 he succeeded Professor Ludwig Doerr at the Office of Domorganisten am Freiburger Münster. In 2002-2003 he was appointed founding rector of the Hochschule für Katholische Kirchenmusik und Musikpädagogik in Regensburg bestellt.
