Jürgen Sonnentheil (Organ, Conductor)

Born: 1961 - Germany

The German organist, conductor and church musician, Jürgen Sonnentheil, studied church music in Bayreuth and Cologne. He concluded his studies with the organ concert exam in Düsseldorf.

Jürgen Sonnentheil is a church musician at St. Petri in Cuxhaven, where he founded the Bach Festival and the ensemble Das Neu-Eröffnete Orchestre. He published numerous sound recordings as an organist. His performances as conductor and organist have been heard on Hessischen Rundfunk, Bayrischen Rundfunk, Westdeutschen Rundfunk and Radio Bremen. A particular focus of his recordings are the early music (especially Jan Dismas Zelenka) and the works of the American composer Wilhelm Middelschulte.
