The German harpsichordist, pianist and music pedagogue, Li Stadelmann, was the daughter of the psychiatrist Heinrich Stadelmann. She trained as a pianist and harpsichordist.
Li Stadelmann's musical work focused on the performance and compositional adaptation of the works of old masters, especially J.S. Bach. As a representative of historical performance practice, she specialized in the interpretation of pieces on old original instruments, for example playing the fortepiano from 1954. She gave numerous concerts in Germany (Munich, Benediktbeuern, Dresden, Frankfurt/Main, Halle (Saale), Kassel, Nürnberg, Schwerin and Stuttgart), and other European countries (Italy, Switzerland and Spain). Her performances were recorded on many German and foreign broadcasters. Numerous records were released.
From 1921 to the 1960's, Li Stadelmann was a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. Among her pupils were Hanns-Martin Schneidt and Eberhard Kraus. She was anti-Semitic and in 1944 was included in the list of God-gifted people of the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. |
