Wolfgang Tiemann (Tenor)

Born: Germany

The German tenor, Wolfgang Tiemann, studied music education, choral and ensemble directing as well as singing at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. His teachers were Professor Gerhard Faulstich and later Professor Helmut Kretschmar.

Wolfgang Tiemann has performed throughout Germany mainly as Evangelist with the oratorios of J.S. Bach and Lieder recitals (Schubert's Schöne Müllerin, Lieder by Strauss and Pfitzner). His interest in contemporary music is reflected in premieres, including works by Klebe and Seither. Concert tours have taken him so far to France, Russia and the Netherlands.

After a five-year tenure as artistic associate at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover, Wolfgang Tiemann is since 1995 a teacher of singing at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold.
