Tiroler Barockinstrumentalisten (Baroque Instrumental Ensemble)

Founded: Tyrol region, Austria

Tyrol has a long tradition of Baroque music and culture. Often referred to as the “Residence of Ancient Music”, Innsbruck has been home to a considerable number of internationally-active musicians.

It is the concept of the Tiroler Barockinstrumentalisten (Tyrolean Baroque Instrumentalists) to unite these young committed musicians in performances on period instruments as well as for presenting sometimes less well-known baroque repertoire to a receptive audience. The members of the orchestra are without exception professional musicians and instrumental teachers with international experience. Attaching importance to the historical context and using historically accurate performance methods, the ensemble seeks to bring the passion of Baroque music to life with an uncompromising attention to quality. This aim is achieved by the artists’ performance skills on period instruments, their great dedication to music and most notably their close cooperation which places ensemble playing above virtuosity.
